Our Asphalt Paving Process

Applying a Base

Asphalt installs start with a stone base usually between 6” to 12” thick depending on the application making sure water runoff is away from the structure, into a storm sewer or grassy area. 

Applying Binder Asphalt

Then a base coat of binder asphalt is applied anywhere from 2” to 6” thick depending on the application and then is compacted with a double drum roller, binder is designed to carry the weight of vehicles and traffic and should always be installed before top coat. In some cases a tack coat is applied to the top of binder asphalt to bond the top coat asphalt to binder coat this process usually is done on commercial and industrial jobs. 

Applied Over Base Coat

Surface asphalt is applied over binder it’s a finer base material with smaller aggregate, sand and emulsion that gives you the smooth look on pavement for years of durability.
